CITY AND VIOLENCE – An audio book
The audio book presents the most important aspects, questions and information in a condensed form. Interviews with the speakers, specific technical contributions and impressions from the conference not only provide an overview of the topics discussed, but also address current discussions about violence in an urban context.
Under what circumstances were and are forms of violence particularly effective in the city?
The Habsburg monarchy, with Vienna as its capital, provided the regional frame of reference.
Approaches to city and violence, violence as a means of representing power, forms of institutionalising violence, war and psychological violence, media representations of war, contextualisation – war elsewhere? were the focus of the discussions. The historical perspective of the violent scenarios in the course of the First World War was also discussed, as were current discussions about security and its perception in the 21st century.
